2019 News and Tournament Information

2019 Players' of the Year

     Jordan Costello is the 2019 Men’s Player of the Year.
     Jordan, was the 2019 State Match Play Champion and was the top finisher in the US Amateur qualifier. Jordan has now played in 3 US Amateurs and 3 US Open Sectionals.
     Jordan finished 5th at the State Amateur, and represented the WSGA in the Pacific Coast Amateur, where for the third year in a row had the low score for Team Wyoming. 
     Jordan is a Senior at the University of Utah. 
     For his fine play, Jordan is the 2019 Men’s Player of the year.

     2019 Boys’ Player of the Year – Ethan Cates.
     Ethan had a great year. He won the Junior World Qualifier and  traveled to San Diego and competed in the Junior World Championship.
     He finished 3rd in the State Amateur, qualified for the Junior Americas Cup Team. He represented team Wyoming proudly shooting rounds of 76-77-76.  Scoring average the last day was 79.  Ethan finished the year with a 2nd place finish at the 4A State High School Tournament. 
     For his fine play, Ethan is the 2019 Boys Player of the Year. 

   Erin Sargent tied with Ali Mulhall  for the 2019 Player of the Year.
     Erin Won the first ever Women’s State Match Play Championship and finished second in the State Amateur.
     Erin played in her first ever Women’s US Amateur at Old Waverly Golf Club in Mississippi.
     Erin is currently in her Senior season for the University of Wyoming, last year she set the school record for season long scoring average.

     Ali Mulhall tied with Erin Sargent for the 2019 Player of the Year 
     Ali is also the Girls’ Player of the Year.
    Ali is this years State Amateur Champion for the second year in a row. She finished runner up in the Women’s Match Play and Qualified for the Girls Junior Americas Cup. She led the team in scoring with rounds of 81, 80, and 75.
     Ali has also qualified for the Drive, Chip and Putt to be held in April 2020 in Augusta. This will be Ali’s second appearance at Augusta.
     Ali travels the country playing in national events.

 

WSGA Mid-Amateur Match Play Championship
  • Tad Norris won the Mid-Am Match Play Championship
  • Tooney Layton won the Women’s Mid-Am Match Play Championship

WSGA Senior Amateur Championship

Karen Davis is the 2019 Women’s Senior Amateur Champion. Karen had rounds of 83, 80 for a two-day total of 163. Rachelle Pearson places a close second with a total score of 165.
Saturday’s conditions were cold and windy. Sunday’s weather was much better.

John Hornbeck won the Men’s Senior Amateur Championship with rounds of 71, 65 for a two-day total of 8 under par 136. The weather conditions were less than ideal on Saturday. On Sunday, much of the front nine was played in good weather. The last nine holes were windier and colder making John’s 65 a great round.

WSGA Four Ball Championship

The WSGA Four Ball Championship was held at the White Mountain Golf Course in Rock Springs on August 17-18.

     West and Wade Hernandez won the Men’s Division with rounds of 64, 64 for a two day total of 16 under par 128.

     Ashlee Lansang and Chris Rasmussen won the Mixed/Women’s Division with scores of 75, 74 or just 5 over par 149.

31st WSGA Mid Amateur Championship

     The 31st WSGA Mid-Amateur Championship was held on August 9 – 11, 2019 at Riverton Country Club. Gabe Maier won the Championship with scores of 70, 69, 72 for a Total of 211 which was 12 strokes better than his nearest competitor.

Flight Winners……

     The 31st WSGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship was held at the Riverton Country Club on August 9 – 11, 2019. Kenall Ashba won the Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship with scores of 80 87 86 for aTotal of 253 for a 10 stroke win.

97th WSGA Amateur Championship

     The 97th WSGA Amateur Championship was held at the Cheyenne Country Club June 28 – 30, 2019. Jared Edeen is the 2019 WSGA Amateur Champion with rounds of 71, 69, 69 for a three day total of 7 under par 209.

     The 97th WSGA Women’s Amateur Championship was held at the Cheyenne Country Club on June 28 – 30, 2019. Ali Mulhall won the Champiosnship with scores of 70, 69, 74,74 for a three day total of even par 216.

Three Person Scramble - Lander Golf Course (July 27 - 28)

     Wacey Lym, Brandon Rideout, and Cayl Carpenter were the winners of the Men’s Division of the Three Person Scramble. The threesome had rounds of 53, 58 for a total of 111 or 31 under par.

     Trey Massey, Donna Brown and Pat Brown had scores of 56, 56 for a total of -28, 114 to win the Mixed/Women’s Division.

WSGA Couples Championship - The Golf Club at Devils Tower (July 13 - 14)

WSGA Match Play Championship - Jacoby Golf Club (June 13 - 15)

     Pam and John Hornbeck were the winners of the Gross Division.
     Caitlyn and Scott Skavdahl tied with Alyssa and Joe Wright for 1st Place in the Net Division

     Erin Sargent is the 2019 Match Play Champion in the first ever flight for Women
     Jordan Costello is the 2019 Men’s Match Play Champion.
